ACTIVITIES

This is the sort of place where the main activity is poolside lounging and spending quality time with friends, but there’s also plenty to do. There are three serene, private beaches, horseback riding, turtle-releasing, lagoon tours, boating, sea-bird-watching (the property is an ecological reserve with some 270 species), picnicking and sunbathing. One beach is a white-sand-shored cove with water calm enough for swimming and snorkeling. Scuba diving and surfing can be had a bit further afield, and a 47-foot crewed sailboat can be chartered.

Horseback

Riding

Ride your way through the property with a guide as you discover our many beautiful fruit orchards, coconut fields, and stunning vistas. Whether you’re riding through a herd of zebras, spotting one of the lagoons’ many crocodiles or atejon scampering across the trail, exploring Cuixmala by horseback is the most magical way to experience our wildlife and exotic animals.

Beaches

Relax in the Sun

PLAYA CUIXMALA
This beautiful beach stretches along the front of our property and is visible from many points in the resort. Perfect for morning jogs and sunset strolls, and accessible via horse, bike, foot, or car from Casa Rio. Because of the dangerously strong surf and current, we do not allow swimming at this beach.

Set on a turquoise clear bay in a protected cove 30-40 minutes up the coast, Caleta Blanca is the ultimate beach experience. Fully equipped with bathrooms, showers, and a kitchen, you can spend the day there relaxing

PLAYA CALETA BLANCA

Ocean side palapa, lounging in a hammock beneath two coconut trees or enjoying the shade of an umbrella on a cushioned lounge. Choose between a packed picnic basket or a freshly grilled lunch cooked on-site, and enjoy the following activities of your choice:

  • Snorkeling

  • Beach Volleyball

  • Kayaking

  • Paddle Boarding

  • Swimming

Cuisine

Farm to Table

Environmentalism and sustainability are the core of Cuixmala. A sprawling organic and biodynamic farm provides 90% of everything served on the estate. Everything prepared in Cuixmala is a benefit of the environment you see for miles around you. Authentic farm-to-fork highlighting seasonal and completely sustainable produce. Nearly everything we serve is organically and biodynamically grown, raised, and fished here at Cuixmala, or at Rancho Jabalí - our sister property Hacienda de San Antonio’s 5,000-acre mountain ranch. Cuixmala also provides the experience of visiting the farms and harvesting their own produce.

TURTLE

Sancturary

Learn about our Marine Turtle Conservation Program at Playa Cuixmala where we’ve protected more than 10,000 nests and released over half a million newly hatched turtles since its inception in 1988. From July to April, meet newly hatched turtles and even help release them after dark as they journey to the sea for the first time. A truly unique and memorable experience.
